Leica I model A samples

These are shots taken with a Leica I model A, the first 35mm camera. Using it makes it abundantly clear how advanced a camera it was for the time. It was small enough to fit in your pocket and winding it only required a small twist of the wind knob and it cocked the shutter at the same time! With the rangefinder attachment focussing is straightforward. Yes the viewfinder is small and setting the aperture on the Elmar lens is fiddly, but it was far ahead of anything else at the time other than much bigger professional cameras.
The foto's turned out well generally, if I got the exposure right... Bright sunny days are generally best and indoor photos are challenging due to slow shutter speeds and wide open aperture. The first few photos are from a car show at Newhailes House & Gardens in Musselburgh, always a rewarding place to go.
